Could you elaborate further on the tasks of the 'data person'? Should this role be primarily understood as focusing on reporting and analyzing the resulting data, particularly in alignment with administrative aspects and success metrics, to help close the information and decision-making loop for the C-level?
Data is the role which has responsibility for setting up and maintaining backend data infrastructure so the company can have a quality data source to pull from to substantiate decision making.
If the data resource is set up well in the organization, their role can go beyond the innovation team (as you mention). Within the innovation team, they can assist with analysing solution data, reporting and procurement / adoption decision making.
